In a world filled with uber-rich celebrities, it’s hard to imagine that there are cats out there that are worth more money than most of us will ever see in our lives. Of course, there are celebrity cats who don’t have celebrity humans, but it seems that many pets to celebs are among the world’s richest pets. And, it should come as no surprise that bonafide cat lady country-crooner-gone-pop and global phenom, Taylor Swift, has a cat with a net worth of nearly 100 million dollars. Her beloved Scottish fold cat named Olivia Benson off of Mariska Hargitay’s character on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, has amassed quite the fan base…and income.
Ms. Swift is the proud human mom of three adored kitty cats, but it seems that her most famous cat, Ms. Benson, is the one who usually gets shared on her social media account. And, when she does, you can expect a lot of likes to come pouring in for this famous lady’s equally famous cat. Over the years, Swift has featured her cat in her music videos, and even commercials for brands such as AT&T, Diet Coke, and DirectTV. She’s happy to profess her love often for her cats and doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight with them either.
Taylor’s other two cats, Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button, aren’t quite as popular as Olivia although equally as cute. Recently, Taylor shared that Meredith Grey (named after Ellen Pompeo’s character on Grey’s Anatomy) is actually quite camera shy, so that might explain her lack of images online. With a fan base on Instagram alone of 240 million fans, it’s easy to see why Olivia Benson the cat captures so much attention anytime one of her images is shared by her cat mom. But for a cat worth $97 million, it might make you wonder how much her human is worth. And, according to reports, that number is close to $400 million for the 33-year-old global sensation.
And Taylor Swift’s cat wasn’t the only cat of a celebrity to make it onto the list of the world’s richest pets. Oprah Winfrey’s dogs, Sadie, Sunny, Lauren, Layla, and Luke, came in on the list at number three. And although Olivia’s net worth is most impressive, she was edged out by Nala cat, a rescued feline with 4.4 million followers—and even holds Guinness World Records. She earned herself a Guinness World record in 2019 for a cat having the most followers on social media. It’s suggested that Nala’s net worth sits at 100 million, clinching the top spot.
